What is IPL?

If you struggle with how your complexion looks because of dark spots or sun damage, Oak Hills Med Spa can perform a skin examination at our Tyler, TX office to determine if you'll benefit from intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy. An IPL photofacial with the Venus Versa™ is a rejuvenating skin treatment for adults with hyperpigmentation problems on their face and neck. IPL may not be an invasive procedure; however, it can be highly effective and create amazing results. Dr. Hope Short uses intense pulses of light energy that raise the temperature of the skin to ignite the natural healing process and increase collagen production. In time, you should see a healthier layer with an improved tone and fewer spots.

What Are the Benefits of IPL?

IPL photofacials are known at Oak Hills Med Spa for their transforming qualities. A few of the benefits that our Tyler, TX patients glean from their IPL photofacials include:

  • Restored skin tone and feel
  • Neutralizing hyperpigmentation and sunspots
  • Revitalized, rejuvenated skin look
  • A relaxing, enjoyable procedure that supports your total skin health

How Does IPL Work?

The Venus Versa system is powered by cutting-edge technology designed for dermal rejuvenation. The heat that is delivered to the treatment area is safely absorbed by the skin without harming the surrounding tissue. A photofacial is performed at our Tyler, TX office in about 20 – 30 minutes in our minor procedure room if no other treatments are performed. An IPL facial begins with your technician cleaning and drying the skin to be treated before protecting your eyes with goggles. A handheld wand will then pass over the skin while emitting light energy pulses. While many patients may feel some discomfort throughout the photofacial, it is usually tolerable given the short treatment time.

The whole staff at Oak Hills Med Spa is amazing. They go above and beyond to make your experience with their office top notch. Dr Short, Corey, Amanda, everyone is welcoming and professional. You walk in the office and immediately feel relaxed and at peace. I highly recommend Oak Hills Med Spa.

About Us

A Bright Glow

Even if you didn't worry too much about your skin when you were younger, you may now be interested in how to improve your appearance. We encourage you to learn more about IPL treatments by calling our Tyler, TX office and scheduling a skin assessment with Dr. Short. With photofacial treatments at Oak Hills Med Spa, we can go deep within the layers of your skin to help create a bright glow and a clear complexion.

How much does IPL cost?

Your skin is unique, so your IPL cost will depend on your condition. Oak Hills Med Spa offers monthly specials, and we accept many forms of payment. During your initial consultation, your technician can estimate your cost and determine how many sessions are needed for optimal results.

How quick are the results from IPL?

Improvements can be seen following each IPL treatment, but the best results develop a month after a full series of treatments. It’s normal for you to respond differently to every treatment session. You will see gradual improvements in redness, blotchiness, and spots (age, brown, and sun).

What are the possible side effects of IPL?

You may experience mild, temporary side effects, like swelling, redness, blisters, crusting, or bruising. These fade 2 – 3 days following your treatment. Your skin will be extra sensitive to the sun, and exposure can affect your results. You should also wear sunscreen to protect your skin and prevent damage like redness and spots.
