What Is a Bacial?

A bacial or back facial is a relaxing treatment that purifies the skin in those hard-to-reach spots. This cleansing treatment softens and smooths the skin and addresses clogged pores, hyperpigmentation, back acne, or dry skin. The steps for a bacial are similar to a facial and include a deep cleanse, an exfoliating scrub to remove dead skin cells and brighten the skin, a massage, and the application of a mask, toner, and moisturizer to unveil healthy, glowing skin. A gentle bacial is perfect right before bathing suit season or if you wear an outfit that exposes your back. Dr. Hope Short is proud to offer this effective, soothing solution. Schedule a consultation with our expert team at our Tyler, TX practice to rejuvenate the skin on your back and banish back acne.

What to Expect From a Bacial

Your bacial will begin with steam to open your pores and a deep cleanse to lift impurities, like oil, dirt, and other debris from the surface of the skin. Next, one of our highly trained professionals will impose an exfoliation scrub, followed by a treatment mask to address your skin concerns while hydrating, balancing, and smoothing the skin on your back. The bacial continues with a massage, then extraction of any acne blemishes and clearing of clogged pores, and finally the application of a serum and moisturizer as part of the finishing treatment. To maintain your brilliant back skin care results, avoid sunlight exposure for at least 24 hours, avoid exercise or strenuous activities that may make you sweat, and use gentle soaps without harsh chemicals. If you experience frequent breakouts, we may recommend a bacial every month.

About Us
How does a Bacial treatment differ from a regular facial?

While a regular facial focuses on the skin of the face, a bacial is tailored specifically for the skin on the back. It involves similar steps such as cleansing, exfoliating, extracting impurities, and applying masks and moisturizers, but it is designed to address the unique needs and concerns of the back's skin.

Can I combine a Bacial with other spa treatments?

Yes, you can combine a bacial with other spa treatments to enhance the overall experience and address multiple skincare concerns simultaneously. For example, you may opt for a bacial alongside a traditional facial, massage, or body scrub for a comprehensive spa day experience tailored to your needs.

Is there any downtime associated with a Bacial?

Generally, no downtime is required after a bacial treatment. You can resume your regular activities immediately following the session. However, it's essential to follow any post-treatment skincare recommendations provided by your skincare professional to maintain the results and minimize the risk of irritation.
